Supporting a sustainable future for Lancaster City Museums

Lancaster City Council wishes to achieve a sustainable service delivery model for its museums, delivering maximum benefit for the people of Lancaster and local heritage while aligning with the Council priorities for the museums of supporting local communities through promoting a sense of place and belonging, supporting the local/visitor economy and supporting lifelong learning. This will be achieved through a thorough assessment of the potential of the museum service alongside a realistic assessment of Council capacity and finances. The project will conduct a review of the current service, followed by an assessment of a range of options alongside upskilling of key team members. The main outcome will be to determine a way forward that has the full support of the Council, aligns with local stakeholder needs, promotes local heritage and the management and resourcing of which has been fully considered and adopted as a long-term element of Council strategic planning.
