Sustainable Future Use of The Commissioner’s House

Our proposal relates to the sustainable future use of The Commissioner’s House (Grade I Listed and Scheduled Ancient Monument). This highly significant building dates back to 1703, and is the focus of a significant capital development project, which will see a comprehensive programme of repairs undertaken, and numerous improvements to enhance public access and wider financial sustainability of this unique heritage asset. Our project will undertake critical maintenance and repair to protect the historic fabric and longevity of the structure, protect exhibits and collections through remedial works, significantly reduce operational carbon of the building, increase diverse audience groups and visitor footfall, improve organisational resilience and enhance physical access. The Trust’s approach to works has two phases – Phase.1 Repair and Protect (underpinning Saving Heritage, Environmental Protection, Organisational Sustainability) and Phase 2. Access, Interpretation and Reuse (underpinning Access and Inclusion).
