Teffont Archaeology Project: Sustaining Pathways to Access

This project will train volunteers in archaeological excavation and post-excavation skills, improve their welfare, widen access to heritage, and help build a sustainable regional community archaeology network. Our paid entry-level placements and follow-on mentoring for people from diverse or less economically privileged backgrounds will make archaeology a more representative sector. We’ll better share the work of the Teffont Archaeology Project through a redeveloped website. We’ll also share the project’s work with the public and lottery players through an open day, talks and activities. We’ll better inform landowners and Wiltshire Council about the heritage the project studies, improving its management and safeguarding heritage. We’ll engage with Carers via Carer Support Wiltshire to provide new experiences that they would otherwise be unable to access, building confidence, skills and networks. We’ll nourish partnerships with CSW and other stakeholders to build towards a larger future NLHF application for a longer-term project with wider impacts.
