Telling the Story of St Nicholas Berden

St Nicholas Berden is a beautiful Grade I listed church building with a fascinating heritage story to be told. The church has an excellent track record for heritage and community engagement, winning the National Churches Trust ‘Open for Visitors’ award in 2024. There are many ideas and activities we want to further develop and engage people with our heritage and see the church continue to be open for visitors. However, we first need to address urgent repair needs. The tower needs re-roofing and repairing to bring it into good condition. As we carry out the tower repairs, this also creates an opportunity to engage people with heritage conservation techniques and expand our regular programme of activities. Through this project we will protect our building, continue to engage with our community, and do more to celebrate the diverse heritage that the village of Berden has available to people.
