Historic Buildings
In collaboration with Abercwmboi Workmen’s Hall and Institute, CISWO will lead a project to restore and revitalise the Hall, transforming it into a sustainable community hub while preserving its historical and cultural significance. Focused on celebrating the Hall’s mining heritage and history, the project will honour the past while creating a vibrant future. First phase developments include a feasibility study and structural assessment to ensure the Hall’s structural integrity and align its future use with community needs. A Community Engagement and Development Officer will guide the project, supporting community involvement and forging meaningful partnerships. They will also focus on building organisational capacity and strengthening governance to ensure long-term management of the Institute. The ultimate goal is to create a thriving facility that supports a wide range of community activities and engagement. This project will preserve the Hall’s heritage, securing its future as an essential resource for Abercwmboi and surrounding communities.
