Historic Buildings
We would like to deliver an archaeological dig on the Iron Age round at Carsluick, West Cornwall, securing it’s history for the future. The site is on our back door and probably represents the earliest permanent settlement in our village. Alongside the dig, we'll develop accessible learning opportunities, allowing everyone to grow their knowledge through discussion, making & collaboration alongside displays, workshops, walks and talks. We are also starting a Young People's Archaeology Group, for training, and networking opportunities. To capture the story of prehistoric Godolphin, especially the tin streaming and smelting, we will publish an illustrated book, available in local schools and libraries. We will build a new website to archive and share findings, including Virtual Reality scans of the dig overlaid with research, audio and video recordings created by our own Community Digital Working Group, securing a legacy for our work, increasing access for those with mobility issues.
