The Bonsall Framework Knitters' Workshop

The Grade II listed 1737 framework knitters' shop at Yew Tree Farm, Bonsall, has been unused since 1911. This unique, unmodified workshop, still adorned with original knitting frame parts, is currently in poor condition, preventing public access. Our project aims to restore and transform the building into a learning centre, preserving and celebrating our local industrial heritage while raising awareness of the critically endangered craft of framework knitting. As custodians of this rare piece of East Midlands history, we are dedicated to enriching the village’s cultural landscape through ongoing heritage craft and history-related educational activities, both in person and online. We seek funding to ensure this historic site becomes a vibrant hub (both in person and online) for community engagement and learning.
