The conservation of the Souter's workshop and showroom, Ballogie.

Birse Community Trust’s (BCT) vision is to fully repair and conserve the 19th century souter’s (shoemakers) workshop and showroom whilst also opening up access to the building to a wider audience through using digital approaches. It will also put in appropriate conservation measures, and improve the condition of the shoe collection and other artefacts contained within the building, which together with the building itself contributes to the significance of this increasingly rare survivor of a former rural industry. As a result of this conservation project BCT hopes to increase the understanding of a small rural industrial building and the history of traditional shoemakers in Scotland.
