The Croft Bakery Restoration Project

The purpose of this project is to save heritage and prevent further deterioration of The Croft, formally the 18th century Town Bakery, which sits within the conservation area of Royal Wootton Bassett. In order to preserve the building for future generations the lime render of the west and northeast walls along with the leadwork and timbers of the original shop front window will be replaced. As part of the restoration project we plan to raise the profile of the buildings heritage in town by enhancing the content and delivery of information within the current Town Trail and restore the cottage garden. The risk of not carrying out these works is a loss of heritage in the conservation area; the loss of a tenant home above the community space, to the users of the relief services we offer and to the community groups who use and meet regularly in the building.
