The Hallé Archive: Generating Publicly Accessible Resources and Signposting Manchester’s Extraordinary Musical Heritage
The Hallé’s ambition, with your support, is to build on the excellent work achieved via our archive community heritage programme and establish a permanent public home for our archive which is truly accessible to all. Developing a thorough and dynamic feasibility study will identify the best and most flexible option that meets our current and future ambitions and protects Manchester’s extraordinary musical heritage at a time of threat. We have already identified various potential building options but now need a robust plan to determine next steps and establish a strategy for long-term sustainability. Our existing heritage project focusses on increasing access to our archive through creating participatory activities based on the Hallé’s rich heritage. An important, secondary aspect of this application is to achieve funding to enable this work and the management of our archive by a professional archivist as we strive towards a permanent home.
