Historic Buildings
Llantwit MajorTown Council wish to restore an historic water supply system of the town. Midwell is a Grade II listed well and is defined as a County Treasure. At present Midwell is in a disheveled state. We want to repair the well chamber and stone wall as well as refurbishing the two iron doors. The spring is still in use and connects to the West End of town . The project aims also to install a board walk between Midwell and West Street Pool providing inclusive access to the ancient well. The boardwalk will allow the water to flow into the pool whilst maintaining and encouraging biodiversity and wildlife back to the area. The project aims to increase tourism and footfall to the area as well as restoring and preserving an important historic site for future generations.
