Historic Buildings
Our project seeks to restore, secure and promote the heritage of the Grade Two* Listed Historic Pannier Market building in South Molton, in rural North Devon. The building is owned and managed by South Molton Town Council. Despite minor improvements by the town council, the 160-year-old arched glazed roof over the main market hall suffers from water ingress and needs comprehensive and urgent restoration. The council has allocated funds towards the restoration but require additional grant funding to complete the improvements required and to develop heritage programmes to involve and engage local people, including school children. Our aim is to bring to life stories of this historic building and its role within the town and wider rural community. Grant funding will therefore secure the Pannier Market, increase and diversify its use by the community, and raise awareness of the heritage and the importance of this historic building for future generations.
