Historic Buildings
Through this project, Kilmaronock Old Kirk Trust wants to ensure a sustainable future for the Old Kirk of Kilmaronock. The Old Kirk will be a community venue and heritage hub, telling the story of Kilmaronock by sharing the heritage both indoors and outdoors with visitors and locals alike. KOKT bought the Kilmaronock Kirk in 2021. The exterior has been renovated so it is now fully weatherproof and looking amazing with support from Historic Environment Scotland and others. Modifications are required to the interior of the church for a sustainable future and a programme of activities to promote use is planned. In the longer term to ensure continuing success trustees will develop a natural burial ground. After 700 years of documented history at the kirk, the legacy of our project will be the conservation and interpretation of years gone by and a new future to come.
