Historic Buildings

The Turner Home: 140 Years of Care

Our project will explore heritage - our own, and that of the city of Liverpool - as a tool for care, community building and organisational resilience in our residential home. Residents will benefit from an enhanced heritage-inspired activity programme including gardening, reminiscence, storytelling and trips out. Staff will develop new skills and knowledge. We will build community and improve links with local residents, breaking down barriers between Turner and its neighbours. Working with a historian we will better understand Turner’s fascinating story and share it with the public, collecting and archiving new material. Together these activities will inform and shape our fundraising and capital development activity, the start of a long term transformation of Turner in time for our 150th anniversary in 2033. The legacy of this project will be better care and reduced social isolation for our residents, improved stewardship of our heritage, and increased resilience for the charity.
