The Victorian Society: Capacity building for a sustainable future

The ambition is to increase the Victorian Society’s resilience to safeguard its future. We will raise awareness of our charitable objects, awakening public interest in, and appreciation of Victorian and Edwardian heritage by reaching a broader and more diverse audience. We will undertake a membership drive to recruit more younger members, females, and people of colour. We have recruited new trustees as part of the Society’s succession planning. We will now build on this by undertaking a strategic review of governance, stakeholder management, and upskilling Trustees and staff. We will produce a strategic business plan and impact report proving the Society’s efficacy at saving heritage, and promoting climate consciousness, lobbying for the need to adapt rather than build. The project legacy will be a more sustainable Society which can fundraise internally (i.e. without reliance on legacies) and has a broader, more inclusive membership base that enables more effective delivery.
