‘The Wonderful Windows of St Mary’s, Erpingham’

Our project will achieve: *Saving the Grade I listed church of St Mary in Erpingham by repairing eight of its decayed windows, primarily through replacing the old ironwork with phosphor bronze *Removing the church from Historic England’s ‘Heritage At Risk’ Register, where it currently sits as Priority A (the highest risk) because its windows are at ‘…immediate risk of deterioration or loss of fabric.’ *Developing new skills for all ages through conservation workshops for Key Stage 2 and 3 school pupils, focussing on the STEM subjects and the art and stories behind the windows *Promoting positive environmental outcomes by giving a section of the churchyard to Roughton Rural Scouts, who will manage it for greater biodiversity *Interpreting the church through a new ‘Wonderful Windows’ Discovery Trail for families *Improving the churchyard environment through conservation training sessions for adults and wellbeing activities for all ages, led by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust
