Our project aims to sustain and enhance public engagement with Worthing Museum during an enforced closure from March to September 2025 as we are connected to Worthing’s cutting-edge Heat Network. To maintain visibility during this period, part of our historic costume collection will be showcased at Worthing Town Hall. When the Museum reopens, a new art exhibition, Act Now, will focus on the climate emergency, as well as showcasing new exhibits from our store. The Museum’s temporary closure also provides an opportunity for re-interpretation and improvement of displays, and to start deaccessioning parts of the collection to institutions better equipped for display and engagement. With a 55% growth in annual visitor numbers since the pandemic, this project will ensure we maintain momentum as a cultural hub, safeguarding our community’s connection to the Museum, and ensuring we remain a vital and indispensable resource during and beyond this transformation
