Thunderbird: The relocation of the Accessioned Collection of the Fairground Heritage Trust.

This project is to enable the Fairground Heritage Trust to relocate the accredited museum collection of British fairground art and rides from it's current site in Dingles Fairground Museum, Devon to Statfold Barn Railway inn Tamworth and Hollycombe Working Steam Museum in Hampshire. Following huge increases in costs without a corresponding increase in revenue, the current site in Devon is no longer viable and the collection is, and has been, at risk. Following successful planning and negotiations, the Trustees are partnering with Statfold Narrow Gauge Museum Trust and Hollycombe Working Steam Museum limited who operate larger, more diverse museums and attractions that are much closer to population centres. This move therefore provides security for this invaluable collection, much of which was secured by public funds, and increases access to it while retaining the current ownership and preserving maintenance and curatorial procedures.
