Towards 200 Years

This project will restore a unique Georgian B-listed building so that St Mark’s Church can continue to showcase its important heritage and serve the people of Portobello for the next 200 years. The aim is to make the church building safe and in good repair, restore its distinctive features and ensure it is fully accessible to meet the demands of 21st century community life. It will create space that is flexible for multipurpose modern use as well as greatly improving the carbon footprint. The repairs and the reordering of the space will greatly increase its usefulness to the congregation and to the wider community, making it a more attractive prospect to potential renters so that the heritage continues to inspire and inform for generations to come. This will strengthen St Mark’s financial sustainability to meet the ongoing maintenance and running costs of this building.
