Towards a Thriving Sector: embedding sustainability in the heritage sector

Collaboration and partnership work in the heritage sector is a powerful tool. This 16-month place-based project will provide small to medium sized heritage organisations based in 3 separate rural Scottish regions with the framework to develop their sustainability and resilience. A legacy of the Social Enterprise Academy’s (Academy) Steps to Sustainability programme (STEPS) 2020-2024, this project revolves around the value of partnerships and collaboration. It will help learners to fundamentally adapt their mindset relating to organisational sustainability and embedding resilience by exploring and implementing collaborative strategies, frameworks and mechanisms through facilitated modules, peer learning opportunities and community grants. The participants will come away from the project with a more diverse and deeper understanding of what sustainability and resilience can mean to their organisation, and importantly, how they can embrace change to truly develop and embed sustainable solutions which will in turn impact on resilience within the wider heritage sector.
