Historic Buildings

Towering over Thursford for seven centuries, our heritage is too important to lose.

Our aim is to secure the long-term future of St Andrew’s Church, Thursford, by halting its deterioration and ensuring it can be enjoyed for generations to come. The project's main focus is the urgent repair of the 14th century tower, threatened by water ingress and unstable flint work. Essential conservation is also needed elsewhere, where structurally damaged flint work and failing weatherproofing put the wider structure at risk. St Andrew’s is Thursford's only community space, home to services, social gatherings and events. It contains outstanding stained glass and is a remarkable blend of architectural styles spanning over 800 years, while offering a peaceful space for reflection inside and in its churchyard. The project will broaden public engagement with St Andrew's— encouraging more people to visit, take part, learn, and share its heritage. It will ensure St Andrew's remains a sustainable and inclusive heritage and community resource, for Thursford and beyond.
