Towner Seven Sisters at Black Robin Farm

Towner Seven Sisters is a pioneering project to create access to and broaden understanding of the heritage and culture of the South Downs National Landscape. The redevelopment of the historic Black Robin Farm (a dairy by the clifftops, overlooking Eastbourne), will see the creation of a new cultural learning and heritage centre, connecting communities with nature and the landscape. By sharing and celebrating rural/coastal heritage, culture and ecology will dovetail at a new eastern gateway to Britain’s newest National Park. A co-developed programme of learning activities and skills-training will support career development in the sector. Local history, art and archaeological collections will be contemporarily displayed and reinterpreted to explore the socio-cultural history of the Downlands. Local communities and visitors alike will be able to better engage with Sussex’s cultural and rural heritage through artistic programmes in the landscape, new interpretation and storytelling; outdoor learning, volunteering; making and crafts.
