Historic Buildings
Lochwinnoch Community Development’s Trust project is to save Lochwinnoch’s category A listed parish church and prevent it from becoming a derelict vacant building, reimagining it for use that will benefit the whole community. We will purchase the church and hall buildings from the Church of Scotland, and sensitively repair and adapt it. We will develop facilities to meet the needs of more diverse audiences than prior to its closure and develop a sustainable future for the building. Through this project we aim to contribute to a vibrant village, through enhancing facilities and opportunities for activities in a central location. This will be for both local residents and the wider community, and our project will be enhanced by working collaboratively with our neighbouring project, the Lochhead Garden Social Hub. Through this joined up approach we will preserve and enhance the conservation area and its important heritage, increasing civic pride and active participation.
