Historic Buildings
We want to share the history and heritage of our incredible buildings and site with our local community. Collective is an art gallery in a heritage observatory. We completed a capital project in 2018, opening the site to the public for the first time and restoring buildings which had been derelict and at-risk. Over the past 7 years, we have grown into our new home and evolved our organisation to meet the challenges of inhabiting these buildings as a contemporary art gallery. However, we still lack the capacity and expertise to fully explore and share the rich heritage of the site. This project would push us to the next stage in our development as an organisation, putting in place the building blocks that will allow us to celebrate and safeguard the heritage of the City Observatory.
