Historic Buildings
Warming The Heart of Somerby
The PCC at All Saint’s Church, Somerby would like to undertake a viability project, as the first of three phases. This project will allow the PCC to appoint a professional team to better understand the condition of our church building and costs of future repairs, how to meet our other statutory responsibilities resulting from this work (such as asbestos, faculty permissions and protection of bats), and explore options for how we may implement our wider vision for the use of the church building as a heritage and community asset. This will then enable the PCC to undertake a future repairs and heritage engagement project, with both confidence and accuracy. We hope to plan the completion of all phases to coincide with the 85th anniversary of the Paratroopers of the Tenth Battalion leaving Somerby in September 1944 (September 2029), which is significant not only to our local community but nationally.
