Historic Buildings
Innovative digital technologies will re-animate our Victorian heritage to feel fresh and relevant to contemporary visitors and local communities alike. Inspiring digital interpretation, co-created with local people, will ensure that the next generation is invested in our historic building. More local people will value heritage; both their own cultural heritage and how this interweaves with evolving ideas of English heritage. Community-specific reminiscence workshops will ensure that the stories we tell include the people who live here now; seeing themselves reflected and feeling the heritage belongs to them too. Co-created digital guides, artworks, films, and exhibitions will refresh the heritage story we tell, publicly introducing a wider diversity of voices as well as ensuring a high-quality and inspiring experience for visitors. Local young people will be handed the opportunity to tell the story of a Grade 1 listed building’s journey towards net zero, seeding a lifelong connection to a local landmark.
