Watching Women Win - The Story of the Women Who Built Scotland’s Most Successful Football Club

Glasgow City Foundation aims to preserve and share an under-documented part of Scotland’s women’s football heritage and wider cultural history by creating a publicly accessible record of the story of Glasgow City FC. Glasgow City FC has played a significant role in raising standards, participation and visibility within the women’s game. However, unlike men’s football, women’s football history has received limited formal recognition and archiving. This project addresses that gap through a written book, oral history recordings and a digital archive capturing the voices of founders, players and the wider community. The project reflects broader themes of women’s leadership, representation and cultural change. Making this heritage publicly accessible ensures that the story of Scotland’s most successful women’s football club, and the women behind it, is properly recognised.
