“140 Years of Stories: Celebrating the Heritage of The Edge and its home""

This exciting community-led heritage project will uncover, preserve and celebrate 140 years of our building’s history and the people who shaped it. Working with residents and community groups, we’ll create a digital and physical archive that captures Chorlton’s stories. Volunteer “Heritage Detectives” will learn skills eg in oral history and archival research, many participants engaging with heritage for the first time. Edge participants, including our community of people with learning disabilities and people often removed from the mainstream and for whom access to heritage is difficult, will get involved to document their own place in our story. Their discoveries will form part of a new digital archive that will live on our website indefinitely, including 4 themed documentary films. An ‘Our Heritage’ community theatre production will mark the launch of this new archive. The project will build pride, connection, and creativity, ensuring Chorlton’s heritage inspires for generations to come.
