150th Anniversary of Todmorden Town Hall
An extraordinary week of events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Todmorden Town Hall. Four project strands: 1) Micro-commissioning events to be organised by existing groups: • performance of the Todmorden Cantata/Festival of Nasheeds by Music4theMany (local children’s music education charity) • Town Hall themed script-writing competition by the Hippodrome Theatre • local history exhibition by Todmorden Photographic Society/ U3A Social History / Volunteer Tour Guides. • tea dance/community banquet / Iftar in the Town Hall - free ticket by lottery • Todmorden Orchestra/Choral Society concerts 2) Site Specific Theatre -participatory theatre performances in & around the Town hall featuring historical events eg gooseberry/suffragette trials 3) Projection mapping- transforming the Town Hall frontage into a display surface for video projection of a film about the town's people past & present. 4) Legacy - partnering with the Todmorden Heritage Network to preserve elements of the projects.
