Culture And Memory

50 years of DFs

Celebrating 50 years of Woodcraft Folk’s District Fellows movement, our project will support young people to uncover and showcase the movement’s contribution to social justice and grassroots activism. Through hands-on heritage activities we will: -Train 40 young participants from across the UK in archiving, cataloguing, interpretation and oral history skills. -Collect, catalogue and digitalise artefacts, pamphlets, zines, posters and campaign materials. -Record 20 oral histories from current and former DF members, with professional training and support from University College London (UCL). -Facilitate a Heritage Centre at Venturer Camp (August 2026), showcasing archive materials, running workshops and engaging hundreds of peers -Create a 20 minute documentary film -Produce an Interpretation Pack (Zine) in both digital and print formats, making resources widely accessible to schools, youth groups and researchers. The project will preserve, interpret and share the heritage of 50 years of DF activism and social change, helping to sustain the movement.
