Culture And Memory
Little Angel Theatre’s (LAT) vision is to revive and safeguard the endangered craft of Marionette Puppetry as a living heritage craft, inspiring future generations of makers and audiences. This project establishes a sustainable training pathway, equipping new craftspeople with specialist skills while embedding diversity, accessibility, and environmental responsibility at its core. Marking our 65th anniversary, a landmark production will celebrate marionette craftsmanship and provide a platform for underrepresented talent. Alongside it, a wide-ranging public events programme will raise awareness of the endangered status of this heritage craft, from exhibitions to digital archiving, and spark the imagination of younger audiences, ensuring they see puppetry as both relevant and exciting. More than a single production, the project will act as a catalyst for long-term investment in training and inclusive practice, positioning Little Angel Theatre as the UK’s leading hub for marionette craft and securing its place in the cultural life of tomorrow.
