Adleisiau Iris - Capturing, preserving and celebrating the heritage of Iris Prize

Adleisiau Iris celebrates and safeguards the rich tapestry of LGBTQ+ stories shared with communities in Cardiff, and across the world, through the Iris Prize LGBTQ+ Film Festival. Oral histories from audiences, filmmakers and the wider community will contextualise Iris’ development, our education and outreach endeavours and how Iris has impacted on our communities. We will create an enduring resource reflecting the diverse narratives and achievements of LGBTQ+ communities in Wales and beyond. Not only will the project protect invaluable cultural artefacts from the passage of time it will also inspire and educate future generations about the struggles, triumphs, and evolution of LGBTQ+ communities. Through engagement and accessibility, Adleisiau Iris will ensure that the voices and stories of LGBTQ+ filmmakers, subjects and audiences continue to resonate; fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of LGBTQ+ culture and heritage supported by volunteers from Wales’ LGBTQ+ communities who will have developed heritage skills.
