Bevin Boys: forgotten stories of WW2 in Sheffield

Bevin Court support people who are homeless, have learning disabilities, mental health problems or substance/alcohol use problems. Aims: •To explore the mining heritage of the site as a training camp used for the Bevin Boys during WW2 and what remains. •Work with the community in the area to protect our wildlife habitats around the grounds. •To maintain the Local Wildlife Site, Local Green Space/Ancient Woodland designations of the adjacent valley. •Interpret the site for the community, staff, residents so that it is valued and cherished, not only for its heritage but as a wild space. •Provide a place for outdoor education, for birdwatching and is a place to learn about flora and fauna. •Improve the habitats of the orchard •Provide a place to walk, to run, to spend time alone, or with family and friends, providing physical and mental health benefits, offering peace and tranquility for the wider community.
