This bilingual Welsh heritage partnership project seeks to shine a light on a largely forgotten period of Welsh history by giving Veterans of National Service (1947-63) in Mid and West Wales the chance to tell their story and preserve it on the digital People’s Collection Wales Veterans archive. We expect to learn where these Veterans served, their experiences, and the impact National Service had upon their lives. The project also seeks to capture stories from Veterans who served alongside National Servicemen, bringing perspective to the National Service experience. Through its award-winning West Wales Veterans Archive, Age Cymru Dyfed has an outstanding track record of collaboration with 'People's Collection Wales'. This new project will ‘reach out’ across Mid and West Wales, enabling Veteran’s experiences to be enjoyed by their families, community groups, museums, schools and colleges, enhancing knowledge and understanding of compulsory military service by Welshmen between 1947 and 1963.
