ALL FM will collaborate with Dragons Voice CIC from the Manchester Chinese community to develop a heritage project called, 'Births, Deaths & Marriages'. We'll develop a radio and podcast project looking at how the Chinese community in Manchester is changing via how they mark, celebrate, commemorate; births, deaths & marriages. We'll interview different generations; grandparents, parents, off spring, talking about their marriages, how they welcomed the birth of a child, buried a family member and follow this through to those presently marking these occasions (with extreme sensitivity esp regarding deaths.) We'll explore how second or third generation mark these occasions compared to their parents/grandparents. We will follow couples through wedding plans, birth plans, incl LGBTQ+ couples (if possble). We'll see how living in the UK has influenced or changed these occasions, ceremonies and how religion is viewed differently. We'll use these ceremonies to explore how cultural values develop and change.
