Boo, Who?

‘Boo, Who?’ is a creative heritage project from Life’s a Pitch Projects, celebrating the stories, memories and cultural traditions of LGBTQ+ football fans. In partnership with Chelsea FC, Chelsea Pride, the National Football Museum and others, we'll collect 15 oral histories, host creative “Object Lab” sessions using personal memorabilia, stage archive photography days, and co-create new inclusive football chants rooted in lived experience. The project responds to the enduring use of the homophobic chant “Chelsea Rent Boy” – using it as a provocation to spark conversation, reclaim narrative, and imagine alternatives that reflect pride, care and visibility. Activities include matchday activations, songwriting workshops, and an Education Day at Stamford Bridge. Heritage materials will be preserved in a co-created digital archive and shared alongside a free inclusion toolkit for clubs/communities. Our goal is to embed care, creativity and community authorship into football heritage – and show football’s history belongs to all.
