Culture And Memory
Building on the success of BDHA, the programme evaluation, and recent design consultations, this initiative takes a strategic approach to increasing leadership and participation in heritage across the least engaged people and places in Bradford District. It will identify and train a cohort of Heritage Champions to promote heritage and build confidence in underrepresented communities. The programme will co-create community-led heritage projects at inception and growth stages, supporting each for 12 months, with at least 50% representing stories from minority ethnic communities. A community led heritage network will be co-designed and delivered to convene, connect and enable knowledge exchange between grassroots groups and the wider heritage sector, strengthening skills and confidence to influence heritage policy and practice. The programme will also showcase stories from heritage commissions and support communities to celebrate their heritage at an annual Bradford Heritage Festival. Evaluation will embed trained community heritage researchers throughout the process.
