Celebrating the Mining Heritage of Ferryhill Station through a Commemorative Sculpture

The project aims to employ a professional sculptor to work with local primary school children (aged 5 - 11), Ferryhill Miners Banner group and the wider community, to design and install a sculpture tribute to Ferryhill Station's rich mining heritage. Through a series of workshops, the project will design the sculpture and educate participants on the significance of the Town's heritage and the importance of preserving it. Reclaimed materials will be used in the sculptures design so that it will not only serve as a testament to community collaboration, celebrating local history and inspiring generations, but also promote sustainability and environmental awareness. The finished sculpture will serve as a powerful community landmark attracting visitors and instilling local pride. The initiative will strengthen community ties, boost local tourism and create a lasting impact that resonates with future generations, creating a meaningful tribute that honours the Town's past, while inspiring the future.
