We will restore Sailing Barge Centaur for continued use as a sail excursion and training vessel, for decades to come. Alongside, we will consolidate our base at Maldon as a centre of excellence in sailing barge conservation, training and public engagement, for the benefit of the whole historic ships sector. s.b. Centaur will be in good sailing condition – matching our other barge Pudge and giving us the security to develop a long-term programme of community sails, for more and a wider range of people. We will have: deepened the pool of skilled shipwrights, sailmakers and riggers in the barge sector enhanced the skills of our volunteers in barge maintenance and in people-facing skills broadened the profile of our members, volunteers, charterers, crew and trainees.? established a stronger presence in Maldon’s historic quay – offering visitors an improved and enriched experience enhanced our partnership working with local groups and education providers.?
