Culture And Memory

CHECKPOINT: 30 Years of Border Crossings

To mark the 30th anniversary of Border Crossings, we will assemble and preserve an archive of our work in intercultural performance, festivals, diverse community engagement and heritage. This will include archiving physical and digital items, with particular emphasis on digital preservation of performance recordings and films. This work will be done by a professional archivist, in collaboration with the University of Bristol Theatre Collection. We will train volunteers to make an online archive of Oral History interviews. We will commission a researcher to write a book based on the archives, with critical reflections by artists and academics. We want the archive to become a stimulus for future creative work. To begin this, we will ask artists involved with our heritage, and young people in schools and drama schools, to make new pieces in response to archived work. These will be performed at a live event and filmed for online sharing.
