Coalface to Wildspace: Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire & Lothians

Coalface to Wildspace: Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire & Lothians will achieve landscape scale habitat creation and restoration across the three regions. In total the project will enhance 79 freshwater and 24 terrestrial habitats for the benefit of amphibians and reptiles and a wide range of other wildlife that share the same freshwater and terrestrial habitats. Working with communities in deprived areas that are currently under-served by heritage we will connect these habitats by creating nine Neighbourhood Wildlife Corridors. To encourage widescale community engagement we will deliver a comprehensive, informative, educational, enjoyable, and inclusive programme of public engagement. Activities includes community groups creating a Mapestry (heritage focused tapestry), using lego for Wildlife Gardening Workshops, building nature trails with Speaking Statues, a natural arts tour to include the Mapestry and Lego displays, Augmented Reality, a 3D film, amphibian and reptile focused dance, sound and movement sessions with children/young people, and training Nature Guardians.
