Nature And Landscape

#COED2 Coed y Graig Newtown

Our project will unite two valuable urban woodland sites; Coed y Graig, a young, native broadleaf woodland and Rock Wood, a patch of Ancient Woodland that has suffered many years of neglect. Rock Wood will be nurtured back to full health, and both sites will be species-rich, high quality and managed for biodiversity. Residents of Newtown and nearby Lllanllwchaiarn will have improved and increased access to nature and benefit from better connectivity of footpaths and walking routes. This will boost engagement and interest and allow for the exploration of volunteering activity, events and community action. Our project will support the ambitions of the National Forest for Wales. It will evidence the positive impact that woodland can have within urban settings, bringing ecological and social benefits, as well as helping to mitigate the effects of climate change and support an ever-developing town to adapt.
