Nature And Landscape
The proposed wildlife surveys, along with collaboration with local community members, training and mentoring of wildlife recorders and associated research stands will provide valuable information that can be used to inform future forest management to benefit people and wildlife, as well as producing high quality timber in a sustainable way. The enhancement of the woodland structure by removal of conifers to favour broadleaves and the improvements to the footpath network will benefit the landscape and the environment; promote tourism and the local rural economy. Increasing the tree diversity by promoting native broadleaves will improve the resilience of the forest and its ability to adapt to a changing climate. The proposed project will build on the last 25 years of achievements and help set Coed Preseli on a course for a more secure future to deliver a wide range of benefits in collaboration with local and wider communities.
