#COED2 Pentremawr Community Woodland Project

To enhance biodiversity, encourage community involvement and improve public access in Pentremawr Colliery and Syrthfa Field woodlands by: • Ensuring the site is managed according to UKFS guidelines, producing a long-term management plan using existing information, local knowledge and new surveys. • Enhancing biodiversity through the control of INNS; thinning of non-native conifers; diversification of even-aged secondary woodland though coppicing and ride management; managing open areas. • Improving accessibility through enhancing the path network and access points to allow use by less able users; install seating; and ensure that all potential risk areas are suitably managed. • Involving local communities in the management and use of the woodland through stakeholder meetings; community events and by exploring the potential to set up a community woodland warden group. • Enhancing historic and cultural heritage by working with local people and designing and installing suitable interpretation. up. • Contributing to climate change mitigation
