Nature And Landscape
Mill Common in Magor and Undy shall be restored, creating a well-managed, accessible, and educational space for the community. The project will enhance woodland biodiversity, improve access and amenities, and foster a sense of stewardship among residents. The legacy will be a thriving flagship National Forest for Wales site. The project aligns with the National Forest programme's themes; community engagement and climate change mitigation and adaptation through enhanced ecosystem resilience. Green skills and training opportunities will be created, involving volunteers and community members in woodland management and conservation. Proposals adhere to UK Forestry Standards and addresses barriers to participation by providing inclusive engagement opportunities, celebrating the heritage of Mill Common. Funding will deliver woodland management, habitat surveying and restoration, access infrastructure, restoration of vistas, community engagement initiatives, and capacity-building activities. Welsh language inclusion in signage and communication materials, fostering a sense of cultural identity and belonging within the community.
