#COED6 Goytre Hall Wood

Goytre Hall Wood, a Restored Ancient Woodland in the Usk Valley, between two National Forest for Wales sites, strengthening landscape-scale woodland networks. This project will enhance the site’s ecological resilience and community value. Funding will support ash dieback management, creation of a glade with diverse native planting, and leaky dams to improve climate resilience in wetter areas, aligning with UK Forestry Standards. We aim to establish a well-managed, inclusive space that fosters environmental stewardship and wellbeing. A Friends of group will be formed to support long-term community involvement. Training and volunteering opportunities will build local skills in woodland management and conservation. The project will deliver multiple benefits—enhancing biodiversity, supporting mental and physical wellbeing, celebrating cultural heritage, and contributing to the National Forest’s vision. Our legacy will be a resilient, accessible woodland that inspires ongoing community engagement and delivers lasting environmental, social, and cultural impact.
