#COED6 - NYC Community Woodland Revival & Restoration

Through this project, we will restore and enhance the 12-hectare Allt Llwyn-Dyfrion woodland as a thriving, ecologically rich, and accessible space for nature and the community. It will contribute to the National Forest for Wales by strengthening resilience, improving access, and embedding community involvement. Biodiversity will be enhanced through native broadleaf planting, bird and bat boxes, and delivery of a long-term woodland management plan. Access upgrades—over 800m of track, a renovated bridge, and inclusive picnic areas—will open the woodland to people of all ages and abilities. Refurbished facilities, including the roundhouse, compost toilets, and wood store, will support Forest School, cultural events, and community workshops. Participation will be central, with free sessions for children, volunteer-led maintenance, and skills-based restoration. A new website and booking system will promote courses in woodland crafts and monitoring, ensuring long-term engagement. The project will protect heritage, enhance biodiversity, and deepen connections between people and nature.
