Nature And Landscape
Through #COED6 Stori Brymbo, Brymbo Heritage Trust will transform post-industrial woodlands into a resilient, connected, and community-owned landscape. Funding will support the development of a UK Forestry Standard-compliant Woodland Management Plan, habitat and species surveys, phased native planting, safe removal of diseased trees, improved access, play-based shelters, and bilingual interpretation rooted in Brymbo’s industrial and cultural heritage. By aligning with UKFS, the project will ensure high-quality, climate-resilient management that contributes directly to the National Forest for Wales by linking fragmented habitats and setting a long-term framework for biodiversity enhancement. Individuals and communities will be central: through volunteering, citizen science, creative interpretation, oral history, and events that encourage ownership. Seasonal activities such as foraging walks, sap-tapping, and seed exchanges will connect people to the woodlands. The legacy will be a thriving woodland network delivering environmental, social, cultural, and economic benefits for Brymbo and Wales, sustained by active community stewardship.
