Culture And Memory
Through this project we aim to: •Raise Awareness and not just Preserving Heritage of Congolese bereavement culture, also preserving the knowledge, skills, and community identity surrounding them. This involves documenting and sharing traditional practices, ensuring that the knowledge is kept and passed on to younger generations. •Empower Young People with Congolese bereavement cultural identity which provides a distinct authentic identity for countless communities in Salford. By engaging youth in workshops, interviews, and creative activities, the project fosters a sense of identity and belonging. •Foster Community Cohesion and Intergenerational Understanding: by strengthening community bonds and promote understanding between generations. This will bring together elders and youth, easing the transfer of cultural knowledge and encouraging dialogue across age groups. •Develop Practical Skills among volunteers and participants. These include interviewing, documentation, and event organisation, which not only support the project’s goals but also enhance the personal and professional growth of participants, especially youths.
