Culture And Memory
Dartington Village Hall Centenary Celebrations.
Dartington is very proud of it's heritage, dating officially from 833 A.D. but there are remains of flints and other artefacts along the nearby River Dart, that date from the late Mesolithic to the early Neolithic period, i.e. between 5,000 and 7,000 years ago. Our project, made up of 4 separate events, will celebrate the history of the village and in particular the village hall, one hundred years old in 2025, which was built to remember the young men who left the parish to go and fight for their country but never returned. It was places like Dartington that they went to fight for; parish communities which defined Britain and its heritage.
